GAWB has
taken the next step in its
planning for the future water
needs of the Gladstone region by
preparing an Environmental
Impact Statement (EIS) for the
Gladstone-Fitzroy Pipeline.
GAWB is carrying out
preparations for the pipeline
now, including seeking
appropriate environmental
approvals, to ensure that the
pipeline and its associated
infrastructure, should
government approve its
construction, can be constructed
within two years as soon as
increased demand or low dam
levels trigger the need.
Environmental Impact
Statement
GAWB released its EIS for the
Gladstone-Fitzroy Pipeline
Project to the community for a
60-day public comment period in
late 2008. The EIS assesses the
environmental, social and
economic impacts of the project
and proposes mitigation measures
to manage these impacts where
required. The EIS addresses the
topics outlined in the final
Terms of Reference issued by the
Queensland Coordinator-General
in October 2007.

EIS
Supplementary Report
GAWB has prepared a
Supplementary Report in
response to the submissions
received from stakeholders
regarding the Gladstone-Fitzroy
Pipeline Project's EIS.
The main purpose of the
Supplementary Report is to
formally address and respond to
issues raised in submissions
about the EIS.
The Supplementary Report has
been provided to the
Coordinator-General for his
consideration while preparing
his evaluation report for the
project's EIS. Once
complete, the
Coordinator-General's report
will be sent to the Australian
Government's Department of
Environment, Water, Heritage and
the Arts (DEWHA) for
consideration as part of the
Department's final assessment of
the project.
