Right To Information
The
Right to Information (RTI) is the Queensland Government's
approach to giving the community greater access to information.
The Queensland Government has made
a commitment to provide access to information held by the
Government, unless on balance it is contrary to the public
interest to provide that information.
New legislation replacing the
Freedom of Information Act 1992 came into
effect on 1 July 2009, namely:
The right to
information reforms aim to make more information available,
provide equal access to information across all sectors of the
community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals'
privacy.

How do I access
information?
There are a number of ways
you can access information:
Publication scheme
Our publication scheme
describes and categorises information routinely available. It
has been developed to give the community greater access to
information held by GAWB. Information is grouped and
accessible through seven classes:
Most
documents are only available as PDF. If you have
difficulty accessing this information please contact us and we
will endeavour to meet any reasonable request for an alternate
version of the document without charge.
Disclosure log
Our disclosure log provides details of
information that has been released in response to non-personal
right to information requests since the Right to Information
Act 2009 commenced on 1 July 2009. It gives a
description of the information released and, where possible, a
link to the relevant documents.
In accordance with Information Privacy
Principles and the Information Privacy Act 2009
this disclosure log does not include requests for
personal information.
To date, GAWB has not released any
information that can be published.
Applications under the
Right to Information Act 2009
or the
Information Privacy Act 2009
You should consider first
what other options are available to you to access the
information you require and only make an application under the
RTI Act or IP Act if you cannot get the information elsewhere.
