Turning challenge into opportunity

Despite some unique challenges, GAWB has achieved practical completion of a pipeline replacement under the busy Dawson Highway in Gladstone, Central Queensland.

The project involved replacing a section of the Mount Miller Interconnect treated water pipeline running beneath the Dawson Highway in West Gladstone which is a vital part of our treated water network, connecting residential, commercial and industrial users throughout Gladstone.

The pipeline replacement is also critical to the success of the planned integration of the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline into GAWB’s existing water pipeline network.

The complexities of this project were broad, with factors such as high public exposure, construction site and access ways located directly adjacent to residential housing and very close proximity to essential services.

Throughout the project, the contractor expertly worked around overhead power lines, Gladstone Regional Council water mains, sewage connections, storm water drains and diesel oil lines – all of which had their own access and safety requirements which must be managed and adhered to.

This vital work will ensure the future of safe and reliable treated water supply to our customers and the community across the northern Gladstone region.

Thank you to the local community your patience while we safely completed these crucial works.
