SAFETY ALERT! Flooding
Safe and reliable water supply underpins the economic development of Central Queensland. GAWB has been safely and reliably supplying water to customers since 1973 and today supplies bulk water from Awoonga Dam to our customers, which includes heavy industry and Gladstone Regional Council.
The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) monitors the price GAWB charges customers for bulk water and, typically, the QCA undertakes a review every five years.
The QCA has now released its final report into our bulk water pricing for the 2025-2030 pricing period. The final report is a culmination of the rigorous review process, which included a thorough stakeholder engagement process.
For more information about the process, please visit the QCA website.
GAWB has established a structured process to receive and process applications for water supply from customers.
A water application can be submitted to GAWB at any time and when received, GAWB will apply the Queuing Guideline.
The Queuing Guideline outlines the process water seekers must follow to apply to access water from Awoonga Dam. The Queuing Guideline also sets out the process and criteria GAWB applies to determine a water seeker’s position in the queue for water supply as well as the frequency their position in the queue will be reviewed.
Read the Queuing Guideline.
The Queensland Government is undertaking further studies to secure additional water supply for the Gladstone region to support economic growth and development.
Further processes for allotment of water are anticipated in the future when additional supply becomes available.
